John's Story

1949 –

In winning silver medals at Munich 1972, John Nicholson, Danny Clark and Kevin (Clyde) Sefton won Australia's first Olympic medals in cycling since Melbourne 1956. Nicholson had first competed in the cycling sprint at Mexico City 1968. After the Commonwealth Games at Auckland 1974, he joined the professional ranks and became the sprint champion in 1975 and 1976.
