John's Story
1931 - 2013
John [Jake] Foster played for Brighton Water Polo club in the 1950s and 1960s and competed at both the 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games.
He was also an eye specialist and former president of the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.
Uniquely, both of Foster's children both became Olympians. Son Peter won bronze in the canoe/kayak K2 1000m sprint event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, while daughter Margot stroked the coxed four to Australia's first Olympic medal in women's rowing at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
