About Joe
Australian right winger Joe Pincus first started playing rugby union at ten-years-old, alongside his older brother, Thomas, who is now also a professional rugby player. He played his first game of 7s when he was seventeen, continuing to play after high school.
Pincus was first named to the Australian 7s squad for the 2018 season, after former Head Coach Andy Friend noticed his stellar performance for Queensland in the National 7s tournament.
He made his international debut later that year, at the world series in London, where he scored his first try, against Ireland.
Joe joined the Australian 7s in Townsville for the Oceania 7s Championships recently, where they finished third overall. Pincus was also a member of the team that qualified Australia for a spot in Tokyo 2020 at the Oceania Rugby 7s Championships back in 2019.
Pincus made his Olympic debut as part of the Australian Men's Rugby 7s team that travelled to the Tokyo 2020 games. After a dominating 42-5 victory over Japan, Australia would advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Facing Fijij, Australia were eliminated from medal contention after a 19-0 loss, earning a 7th overall placing at the tournament after defeating Canada 26-7 in their final game.
