Jenny's Story
Jenny Owens made her Olympic debut in Alpine Skiing at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games. Owens contested the Super-G, Super Combined, Giant Slalom and Downhill, with her best result being ninth in the Super Combined. The result was Australia’s second best in Olympic Alpine Skiing, behind Zali Steggall’s bronze in Nagano.
After retiring for a short time, Owens made the switch to the Freestyle Skiing discipline of Ski Cross which made its Olympic debut at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Despite a long battle with injury, Owens secured a number of podium finishes on the World Cup circuit and would go on to finish 13th in the event at Vancouver.
A year after her second Olympic appearance Owens had surgery on her injured knee. She would make a successful comeback to the World Cup circuit, winning bronze in February 2011 at Blue Mountain, Canada, before winning bronze at the 2012 X Games in Aspen, USA.
At her third Olympic campaign in Sochi, Owens had a performance to be proud of. She pushed through to the quarter finals before just missing out on the semis to claim 12th overall.
Despite again retiring, Owens has returned to Alpine Skiing and is now looking to make her fourth Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
Owens was a member of the AOC Athletes' Commission from 2010 to 2014.
