Jennifer's Story

1964 –

Jenny Holliday, a pitcher from Victoria, represented Australia in three softball world championships before playing in the sport’s Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996. Softball had been granted Olympic status without ever being a demonstration sport. Australia won the bronze medal, behind the United States and China, but not before it had inflicted the second loss in ten years on the powerful Americans.

In 2001, Holliday was inducted into International Softball Federation Hall of Fame at the same time as one of her Atlanta team-mates, Joyce Lester. A year later, she was inducted into the Softball Australia Hall of Fame. Away from softball, Holliday was the executive director of the Victorian Olympic Council for five years in the early 2000s.
