Jarmila's Story

Having taken up the sport in her birth country Slovakia, Jarmila Gajdosova first represented Australia in 2007. She scored her best results in Grand Slam tournaments in 2010 with fourth round appearances at both the French Open and Wimbledon and in the same year won her first WTA singles event in Guangzhou.

She qualified for her first Olympic Games in the women’s doubles where she lined up alongside Anastasia Rodionova who she had made the 2012 French Open quarter-finals with. The pair were knocked out in the first round of the tournament after going down 6-1, 6-4 to the sixth seed Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.
