Janine's Story
Janine Murray made her Olympic debut at the age of 22, as Australia’s sole representative in rhythmic gymnastics at the London 2012 Games. Born in Zimbabwe, Murray moved to Australia in 2002 and made her first national team four years later. Murray earned a wildcard entry to compete in London by finishing the 2011 World Championships as the top ranked athlete from Oceania. Contesting the four disciplines of clubs, ball, hoop and ribbon, Murray scored a respectable 96.325 points to finish in 22nd place. Ribbon, her favoured discipline, was her best result with 19th – 25.000 points.
