Jane's Story

Taking up the sport of water polo when she was 12, Jane Moran made her debut for the national team in the U/17's before going on to make the U/20's in 2004 and 2005. Having just missed the Australian team that went on to claim bronze in Beijing, Moran went on to become an integral part of the squad that took silver at the 2010 World League Super Finals and the World Cup.

With strong performances at the 2012 Olympic Test Event and the World League Super Finals, Moran was selected to compete at her debut Olympic Games in London. The Aussies played extra time games in the quarter-final, semi-final and bronze medal decider. They defeated China in a penalty shoot-out before falling to their American rivals in the semi 11-9. The bronze medal game between Australia and Hungary provided more amazing drama. The Hungarians scored in the final second to force the extra period, however the Australians remained composed and scored the only two goals in added time to take home the bronze medal, 13-11. There were elated scenes in the pool afterwards and Moran was thrown in the air by one of her teammates.
