Hassan Shahsavan was the only Australian competitor in Greco-Roman wrestling in Beijing in 2008. Born in Tehran, Shahsavan was first selected in the Iranian Olympic Team for Sydney 2000 but did not compete. He moved to Australia a year later and then received citizenship one week too late to qualify for the Australian Olympic Team for Athens 2004. Shahsavan finally made his Olympic debut at the age of 32 in Beijing where he placed 18th.
