Hannah's Story
1985 -
The women’s K4 crew of Lisa Oldenhof, Hannah Davis, Chantal Meek and Lyndsie Fogarty drew inspiration from the flying finish of Ken Wallace in his winning of the bronze medal in the men’s K1 1000 metres at Beijing 2008. Placed fifth with 250 metres to go, the crew produced an extra effort to finish third behind women’s kayaking powerhouses, Germany and Hungary. This was the best Olympic performance by a women’s K4 crew. Oldenhof and Meek were in the women’s K4 that finished sixth at Athens 2004. Later at Beijing, Davis and Fogarty finished a creditable sixth in the women’s K2 500 metres.
Davis and Fogarty returned to the K4 at the 2012 London Olympic Games with debutants Jo Brigden-Jones and Rachel Lovell by their side. The Australians missed a shot at improving on their 2008 bronze medal, finishing sixth in the London semi-final.
