Growing up in Western Australia, Hannah Burkhill excelled in Artistic Swimming as a key member of the SupaNova Synchronised Swimming Club in Booragoon.
In 2016, Hannah qualified for the Australian Junior Synchro Swimming Team.
As a member of this team, she was given the opportunity to represent Australia at the 2016 Junior World Championships, held in Kazan, Russia. Here she helped the team achieve 17th place in the women's team competition and 13th in the women's free combination competition.
After being named to the Australian Team in early 2019, Hannah helped Australia secure Olympic qualification in the women's free competition at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Korea.

She made her Olympic debut at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Aussie squad placed a respectable 9th overall in the tournament, with a technical routine score of 75.6351 and free routine score of 77.3667, earning them a total of 153.0018.
