Hal's Story
Hal Nerdal moved to Australia from Norway in 1951 to work on the Snowy Mountains Scheme. He was a carpenter and worked on Guthega Dam. In 1955 he moved to Canberra and was part of the original YMCA ski club there. In 1960 he represented Australia in the Olympic Winter Games in Squaw Valley, competing in Nordic Combined. At the time of writing, Nerdal was Australia's sole representative in Olympic Nordic Combined.
