Grant's Story

1987 -

The team of Patrick Murphy, Grant Hackett, Grant Brits and Nick Ffrost finished a creditable third behind the Michael Phelps-led United States and Russia. Australia with Kirk Palmer and Leith Brodie had qualified for the final with the sixth fastest time.  The format of the team in the final was somewhat of a surprise with Brits and Frost arriving in Beijing probably expecting to be solely heat swimmers. Their excellent performances in the heats meant that they were retained for the final.
