Graeme's Story
1967 -
Graeme Lloyd won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. The left-handed pitcher remains one of Australia’s most accomplished baseball exports. The Victorian enjoyed a long and successful professional career in the US Major Leagues, highlighted by winning the World Series with the New York Yankees in 1996 and 1998. In 1993, he had joined Athens teammate Dave Nilsson, a catcher, on the Milwaukee Brewers, providing the first all-Australian battery in Major Leagues history. Lloyd pitched in four games in Athens, his experience and leadership assisting Australia’s excellent pitching squad. The silver remains Australia’s only baseball medal from the Olympics.
