Graeme's Story

1958 -

Graeme Brewer won a bronze medal in the men’s 200m freestyle in 1980. The bronze medal was the best result in a busy schedule for the Sydney swimmer. He competed in four events in Moscow. As well as the 200m freestyle, he reached the final in the 100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay, and narrowly missed the final in the 400m freestyle. He would represent Australia at a second Olympics in 1984, performing strongly as a relay swimmer as Australia finished fourth in the 4x200m freestyle relay. Brewer’s combination of speed, power and stamina made him one of the finest freestyle swimmers in the world.
