Glenn's Story
Glenn Beringen was only 17 years old when he won a silver medal in the men’s breaststroke in 1984 behind Canadian Victor Davis. He also competed in the men’s 200m individual medley but did not qualify for the final. Beringen remained involved with the sport after his retirement from competition. He has enjoyed a successful career as a swimming coach both in his home state of South Australia and with the Australian Institute of Sport, training Olympic heroes including Petria Thomas and Sarah Ryan.
