Rowing Women's Eight (W8+)
Perth local Giorgia Patten began rowing during high school. Shortly after finishing school, Giorgia was selected to make her state debut for Western Australia in 2017 at the Interstate Regatta youth regatta, finishing third.
It was also in 2017 where Giorgia got her first international experience, winning gold in the women's pair at the U21 Trans-Tasman competition.
Only a year later, at age 19 Giorgia made her senior international debut in a coxless pair with Bronwyn Cox at the World Rowing Cup III, finishing in sixth place.
For the remainder of 2018 and 2019, Giorgia did not compete in any senior international tournaments. Instead, Giorgia rowed at the World U23 Championships in both years, finishing fifth with Bronwyn in a pair and winning silver alongside Harriet Hudson in the women's double sculls.
Returning to sweep rowing, Giorgia made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, being the youngest in the women's eight crew - finishing fifth in the final.
After cementing herself in the women's eight, Giorgia competed with the squad across three international tournaments in 2022. At the World Rowing Cup II, Giorgia claimed bronze but it was only a month later where she would win her first senior gold medal, as the Aussies finished first at the World Rowing Cup III.
Later that same year, Giorgia made her senior World Rowing Championships debut, finishing fifth.
In 2023, Giorgia rowed in the women's four at both World Rowing Cups, finishing with bronze and silver medals respectively. In the World Rowing Championships that same year, Giorgia narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth.
In 2024, Giorgia returned to the women's eight crew. At the Paris Games, she narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by one second, finishing fourth overall.
