About Emily
Born in the small NSW country town of Crookwell, Emily Chalker started playing hockey as a five-year-old because her mum and sister both played. She played on the grass fields in her hometown for 14 years.
The forward made her senior debut at the 2011 Oceania Cup in Tasmania against New Zealand. She scored her first international goal in the second game of the competition and came home with the silver medal from the tournament
As one of the youngest in the London squad (19), Emily made her Olympic debut in 2012, where Australia finished in fifth place. She helped Australia win gold at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and silver at the 2014 World Cup in the Netherlands.
After her second Olympic Games appearance in 2016, Emily went on to help Australia claim silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2018 Champions Trophy, 2019 FIH Pro League and 2019 Oceania Cup.
Emily became a three-time Australian Olympian at Tokyo 2020, her third consecutive appearance at the Olympics. She showcased her attacking prowess, scoring five goals in the group stage. Australia finished fifth in the tournament after losing a tense quarter-final tie against India 1-0. Emily was the third-highest goal scorer of the tournament.
Away from the pitch, Emily has a passion for the great outdoors. She loves spending time at the beach and often goes camping, fishing and jet skiing with her family and friends.
