Elizabeth's Story
At just 5’1”, Elizabeth Patrick was the coxswain of the women’s eight at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Patrick had been cox of the Eight since the 2005 rowing season. In the lead up to the Beijing Games, Patrick was an Olympic torch bearer, holding the Olympic Torch aloft as the Eight rowed across Lake Burley Griffin.
The Victorian returned to Olympic competition four years later in the same role at London. Patrick and the Australian crew made the A Final finishing in sixth place. The USA beat Canada and the Netherlands for the gold medal.
