About Dylan
Hailing from Randwick Rugby Club, Dylan Pietsch has risen through the ranks of Australian rugby throughout his teenage years. As a schoolboy, Dylan represented the Kings School in Sydney's GPS competition and in his final year was picked for the NSW Schools and Barbarian side.
After strong performances in the U18s Australian Youth Sevens side, Dylan was selected to make his rugby sevens debut in Wellington in 2017.
In 2020, Dylan was one of six changes to the team that won bronze defeating England 33-32 in the Hamilton, NZ, leg of the World Sevens Series. A year later, Dylan was part of coach Tim Walsh’s side for the six-match tournament against New Zealand in May 2021 and the Oceania Sevens in Townsville 2021.
Off the field, Dylan is an advocate for mental health and is involved with the Australian Institute of Sport and the Black Dog Institute's 'Mental Fitness Program', where he speaks to high school students across the country and offers advice on how to deal with depression.
Dylan made his Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 games, alongside the Australian team that traveled to compete in the Men's Rugby 7s competition. He would help Australia advance out of the group stages of the tournament, scoring a try in their 42-5 victory over South Korea. Australia would later fall to Fiji in the quarter-finals of the tournament, placing 7th overall at the games.
