Growing up in NSW’s Wagga Wagga, Dylan Martin always dreamed of becoming a member of the Kookaburras.
In December 2020, this dream turned into a reality when he was the only new player called up to join the Australian squad ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
After a stellar 2019 season, as a member of the National Development Squad, Dylan attended the National Super Camp in Perth excelling against hockey’s best talent and was ultimately named to the Kookaburras Squad.
He was also a standout in the all-conquering NSW Pride team during the 2019 Sultana Bran Hockey One and was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2019 Australian Under 21 Championships.
Dylan helped the Kookaburras to victory at the 2021 Trans-Tasman Series, with a 5-1 win over New Zealand.
At 22, Martin made his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where he helped the Kookaburras to a Silver Medal finish, narrowly losing to Belgium in penalty shootout fashion. This would be the first time an Australian Field Hockey squad would make the finals of an Olympic tournament since Athens 2004. Dylan receiving a Silver Medal in his debut at the Olympic Games.
