Doug's Story
1917 – 1984
Doug Buxton first competed at Helsinki 1952. He was in the Dragon class boat, with Jock Sturrock and Bevan Worcester that finished twelfth. Australia’s first Olympic sailing medals were won at Melbourne 1956, on Port Phillip Bay, with Rolly Tasker and John Scott finishing second in the Sharpies, and Buxton with Jock Sturrock and Dev Mytton winning a bronze medal in the 5.5-Metre class in their boat Buraddoo.
