Doris's Story
Doris Thompson was the first female swimmer from Queensland to compete at the Olympic Games. She contested the heats and semi-finals of the women’s 200 metres breaststroke at Amsterdam 1928.
She later married Reg Grier, a multi-Australian swimming champion in the late 1920s. Their daughter Jann Grier won a bronze medal in the 3 x 110 yards medley relay at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games at Vancouver, Canada.
