David's Story
1981 –
David Guest won a bronze medal for Australia in men’s hockey in 2008. The midfielder enjoyed a fine tournament, which included two penalty corner conversions. In the preliminary round, the team had three wins and two draws from its five matches to advance to the semi-finals. In its semi, Australia led Spain 2-0 into the second half, only for the Spanish to catch fire and win 3-2. The Kookaburras rebounded well in the bronze medal final to trounce traditional rivals the Netherlands 6-2. The bronze was Australia’s fifth consecutive men’s hockey medal at the Olympics.
