Darrell's Story

Indigenous Queenslander, Darrell Hiles boxed in the featherweight division at Seoul 1988.
After winning his first bout against a Turk, he was outpointed in the next round by one of the eventual bronze medallists, Lee Jae-Hyeok of Korea.
Outside of being an Olympian, perhaps his most prominent boxing performance was in 1992 when as a professional he was defeated by Kostya Tszyu in the latter’s first bout in Australia. Tszyu had represented the Soviet Union in the lightweight division at Seoul.
