Danielle's Story
Danielle Prince made her Olympic debut at the Rio Games, an achievement which was 14 years in the making.
The Queenslander won a gold medal in the teams event at the Dehli 2010 Commonwealth Games but was beaten for selection for the London 2012 Games by fellow Australian Janine Murray.
She was Oceania’s highest ranked competitor at the 2016 World Championships which secured a quota spot for Rio.
Prince overcame a nervous start in the morning session with a small fumble at the start of her hoop routine which saw her score 14.5 to back up with a solid ball routine and a score of 15.25. She saved her best for the last two routines with scores of 15.716 in the clubs and 15.55 in ribbon. Prince failed to make the finals, with only the top 10 proceeding.
Her Olympic journey began at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in 2007 where she won gold.
