About Daniel
Inspired by “the challenge and the feeling you get when you win,” a 12-year-old Daniel Repacholi followed in his shooting family’s footsteps.
Fine-tuning his skills at the Melton Pistol Club, he has embarked on a career that culminated with selection to a fifth Australian Olympic Team at Tokyo 2020.
Repacholi’s Tokyo 2020 selection saw him equal rifle athlete Warren Potent for a fifth Olympic Games and is one place behind Michael Diamond, Russell Mark, and Lalita Yauhleuskaya, who each represented Australia at six Olympic Games.
Repacholi was 22 when he made his Olympic debut, competing in the men’s 10m Air Pistol and men’s 50m Air Pistol at Athens 2004, finishing 36th and 23rd respectively. He returned to Olympic competition at the 2008 Beijing Games where he competed in the same events. Repacholi placed 31st in the men’s 10m Air Pistol and 40th in the men’s 50m Air Pistol.
In 2010, Repacholi went on to win a bronze medal in the men’s 10m Air Pistol at the Delhi Commonwealth Games before going on to finish 28th in the men’s 10m Air Pistol and 19th in the men’s 50m Air Pistol at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
After winning the men’s 10m Air Rifle gold and men’s 50m Air Rifle bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Repacholi finished 44th and 28th in the 10m and 50m events at his fourth Olympic appearance in Rio.
Repacholi had planned to retire, but the Olympic desire was still burning bright, and he continued his shooting journey towards a fifth Olympics appearance.
Competing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games he won gold in the men’s 50m Pistol and finished fourth in the men’s 10m Air Pistol.
At Tokyo 2020, Repacholi finished 30th in the men’s 10m Air Pistol and teamed with Dina Aspandiyarova to finish 6th in Stage 1 of the mixed 10m Air Pistol to qualify for Stage 2 where they were eventually placed 8th.
In 2022, Repacholi was elected as the Member for Hunter in the Federal election.
