Daniel's Story
Dan Noonan recovered from injury to compete in the 2007-2008 Olympic selection trials. Noonan was one of the standout scullers and was chosen as the stroke of the men’s quad scull at the 2008 Olympic Games. After breaking the world record earlier in the heats, Noonan and the crew finished in fourth place in the Beijing Olympic final.
Noonan went compete at the following three World Championships in the quad scull where he won silver (2009), bronze (2010) and gold (2011) medals on his way to be selected for his second Olympic Games in London.
Hoping to improve on their last Olympic result, Noonan lined up alongside Beijing teammates Chris Morgan and James McRae and Olympic debutant Karsten Fosterling for a second Olympic final. The crew was in fourth place at the midway point of the final but finished well to claim the bronze medal with Germany winning gold and Croatia taking home the silver medal.
