About Daniel

Daniel Arzani moved to Sydney from Iran as a child with his family before beginning his professional career in Melbourne.

He burst onto the Australian football scene in 2018, starring for A-League outfit Melbourne City. In a string of top-quality performances as both a substitute and starter, he won the A-League Player of the Month award in January 2018.

At the season's conclusion, Arzani was named the A-League’s Young Player of the Year and was included in the 2017/18 Team of the Season.

He was selected for his first Australian appearance at the 2018 World Cup, making his senior international debut as a substitute against the Czech Republic.

Arzani scored his first international goal in a World Cup warmup match against Hungary in June 2018. In Russia, Arzani would become the youngest Australian to feature at a World Cup, before being pipped by fellow A-Leauge alum Garang Kuol at the following iteration of the tournament.

At the World Cup Arzani appeared for Australia as a substitute in all three matches against France, Denmark and Peru. After finishing his World Cup campaign, Arzani was sold to English side Machester City, and has since enjoyed loans to Socttish side Celtic, Dutch team Utrecht, Danish outfit Aarhus Gymnastikforening (AGF) and Beligum side Lommel SK.

Following this string of loans Arzani returned to the Australian A-Leauge in 2022, joining Macarthur FC. Hitting the ground running he would push Macarthur to their first ever domestic trophy, providing five goal contributions in the lead up to the final of the 2022 Australian Cup.

Arzani made his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where he featured in the starting 11 for all three of Australia’s games. Including their impressive performances against Argentina and Spain.
