Craig's Story
1980 -
Dual Olympian Craig Anderson won a silver medal for Australia in baseball in 2004. From New South Wales, the left-hander was part of a strong Aussie pitching squad in Athens. Anderson was one of six players on the Athens team to have played at Sydney 2000, where the team finished seventh. He pitched the first game of the 2004 tournament for Australia, a loss to Cuba. Australia reached the semi-finals by winning four of its seven preliminary round matches, finishing fourth. It beat Japan, the top-ranked team, 1-0 in the semi-final. In the final, it lost to Cuba 6-2. The result was Australia’s first Olympic baseball medal.
