The moment Charlotte Grant stepped onto the football field she instantly fell in love with the sport. She began playing because her brother and friends played and found it so much fun she continued to compete regularly.
The idea and potential opportunity to have an elite career was only legitimised when Charlotte moved to Cumberland United women’s football club. Not before long she moved into the state program where she began playing in South Australia’s National Training Centre squad.
For her first Women's National Premier League (WNPL) season in 2018 she was spectacular and earned the female rising star and player of the year awards.
After playing 11 stellar matches in her debut season for Adelaide, Charlotte was named the W-League Rising Star. The following year she represented the Reds in 12 games and claimed a spot in the starting 11.
Grant moved to Sydney to train with the Future Matildas and went on to accumulate many caps with the Young Matildas. In June 2021 she received a call up from Matildas head coach Tony Gustavsson to debut for the senior team.
At Tokyo 2020 Charlotte and the Matildas made all of Australia proud in putting together a historic achievement.
Their fourth place finish, which was nearly a podium finish after a 4-3 loss to the USA in the bronze medal game, is the highest ever finish by the Matildas at an Olympic Games.
