About Cameron

Cameron Smith was introduced to golf at a very young age, his father was club champion and a scratch-maker at Wantima Golf Club in Brisbane. His career as an amateur started to kick off in 2009, after he won the Handa Junior Masters.

By 2012 Cameron had won two consecutive Australian Amateur Stroke Play titles, he also claimed wins at both the Australian boys Amateur and Victoria Junior Masters back in 2011.

2013 saw him make his Korn Ferry Tour debut, he played six Australasia events, making four cuts and one top-10 finish. In 2014 he tied fifth in the CIMB Classic, finishing the season with five top-10s from seven Asian Tour starts.

His performance over the 2015 season earned him a tied fourth place in the U.S. Open as well as a T-25th finish at the PGA Championships. The following year he competed in his first Masters tournament.

2017 was highlighted at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans were he posted a joint victory alongside Jonas Blixt, and his season resulted in a FedExCup ranking of 46.

In 2018 he collected more than five top-5s, claiming fifth at the Masters. Two consecutive third-place finishes helped him rank 12th in the FedExCup standings at the end of the year, after entering at 53rd. In 2019 he posted three top-10s, with 17 cuts from 23 starts.

The 2020 season was brilliant for Cameron, after claiming his first individual PGA Tour victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii, he progressed to his fourth consecutive FedExCup playoff, where he tied 24th in the FedExCup standings. He became the first player in Masters history to post all four rounds in the 60s, finishing T-2nd in the end.

In 2021 Cameron claimed fourth at the The Genesis Invitational and finished T-10th at Masters. He won the New Orleans Zurich Classic with fellow Aussie Marc Leishman.

Then at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021), Cameron fell short of a historic first Olympic golf medal for Australia despite a herculean performance at Kasumigaseki Country Club.

A bogey at the last hole from the fairway bunker saw him slide out of position for a likely bronze medal playoff, posting 14-under overall and a tie for 10th on Olympic debut.

Cameron finished four shots shy of the gold medal winner, American Xander Schauffele, after rounds of 71-67-66-66.

The Queenslander had a stellar year in 2022. He delivered three PGA Tour wins across the The Open Championship, The Players Championship and at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Then he came home to the Royal Queensland Golf Club, the golf venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, in November for the Australian PGA Championship and won that event.
