Bruce's Story
1963 –
Lightweight rowing made its Olympic debut at Atlanta 1996 where Bruce Hick and Anthony Edwards won the bronze medal in the lightweight coxed pairs, behind Switzerland and Holland. The previous year, the pair had won the same medal at the 1995 world championships.
At the 1999 world championships at St Catherines, Hick and Haimish Karrasch won the silver medal in the lightweight double sculls. A year later at Sydney 2000, they won the B final (seventh overall). Hick won his first medal at the 1990 world championships and had won seven, three of which were gold, by the end of his rowing career.
