Brett's Story
1966 -
Track cyclist Brett Dutton joined with Wayne McCarney and Stephen McGlede to win a bronze medal in the men’s 4000m team pursuit in Seoul. From New South Wales, Dutton enjoyed a fine career both domestically and internationally at a time when Australia was re-emerging as a cycling power. Australia had won a gold medal in the men’s 4000m team pursuit in Los Angeles four years earlier, placing much pressure on the quartet to perform. In a hot competition where the world record was broken four times, Dutton and his teammates proved their class by beating France for the bronze medal. He has stayed active in the sport in administration and development.
