Brendan's Story

1971 -

Brendan Garard won a bronze medal as a member of the Australian men’s hockey team in 1996. The team went through the preliminary round undefeated, recording four wins and a draw from its five matches. In the semi-final they were beaten by Spain 2-1. The Kookaburras returned to their winning ways in the bronze medal final, beating Germany 3-2. Garard’s wife, Renita Garard (nee Farrell), won successive gold medals with the Hockeyroos in 1996 and 2000.
