Brendan's Story
Brendan Casey first made his mark on the international sailing scene when he claimed back-to-back World Championships in the Laser Radial class in 1995 and 1996. The Queenslander changed to the Laser class in a bid to make the 2000 Olympic Games but was unsuccessful. He also missed the Athens Games due to an ankle injury and then the Beijing Games after changing to the Finn class.
At thirty-five years of age, it was a case of fourth time lucky as Casey made the Australian Olympic Team for the first time for the London Games.
Casey finished 13th in a field of 24 in the Finn class as Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie claimed his third straight gold medal in the class.
