Boden's Story
1973 –
Bo Hanson made his Olympic debut in the eights at Barcelona 1992, finishing eighth. At Atlanta 1996, he was in the quadruple sculls, with Janusz Hooker, Duncan Free and Ron Snook, that won the bronze medal behind Germany and the United States. He was back in a coxless fours sweep-oared boat, with James and Geoff Stewart and Ben Dodwell that finished a creditable third behind the brilliant British crew of Matthew Pinsent, James Cracknell, Steve Redgrave and Tim Foster and Italy at the Sydney Games. The win gave Redgrave his fifth gold medal at consecutive Olympic Games, starting from Los Angeles 1984.
The same Australian crew had won the silver medal at the 1999 world championships. At Athens 2004, Hanson teamed with James, Geoff and Stephen Stewart, Stefan Szczurowski, Stuart Reside, Mike McKay, Stuart Welch and Michael Toon (cox) to win a third bronze medal, in the eights behind the United States and Holland.
