Benjamin's Story

Ben Cureton joined with Glen Loftus, Anthony Edwards and Simon Burgess in the lightweight four that finished a gallant second behind the powerful Danish crew at Athens 2004. Cureton and Loftus, who were Olympic debutants at Athens, were members of the lightweight eight that finished third at the 2000 World Championships. Cureton competed in the same event in Beijing 2008, finishing in ninth place.

The West Australian competed at his third straight Olympic competition in 2012 as a part of men’s lightweight four alongside compatriots Sam Beltz, Anthony Edwards and Todd Skipworth. After finishing second in their heat and then third in their semi-final, the Australian team finished less than a second behind bronze medallists Denmark in fourth place. South Africa claimed gold with hosts Great Britain winning the silver medal.
