Rowing Men's Eight (M8+)
Ben Canham first began rowing at the age of 14 through Brighton Grammar School. By the conclusion of his education, Ben was rowing the first crew who finished third overall in 2015.
After finishing school Ben joined Mercantile Rowing Club for his senior rowing.
In 2017, Ben was selected to compete for Victoria at the Australian Rowing Championships. He competed in the youth eight during the interstate regatta.
His domestic performances ultimately led to Ben's selection for the Australian team that won the coxed four competition at the U23s World Championships held in Florida.
In 2021 Ben was promoted to the Victorian senior team and raced in the Kings Cup coxed four that won the competition that year and came second in 2022 and 2023.
Following strong performances for Victoria, it wasn't long before Ben was granted the opportunity to represent Australia in International rowing. In 2022, the opportunity arose when Ben was selected two World Rowing Cups.
Later that year he also entered into the World Rowing Championships held in the Czech Republic. He featured in the men's eight competition where Australia finished with a bronze medal.
Ben also raced for Australia throughout the majority of the 2023 season. He took part in a second place finish at the World Rowing Cup II as well as a bronze medal at the World Championships. Ben was a part of the team that won the men's eight at the World Rowing Cup III, after an enthralling race with powerhouses Great Britain.
At the 2024 World Rowing Cup II held in Switzerland, Ben raced in the men's eight. Australia qualified for the final, but unfortunately fell short of the podium in fourth position.
Ben went on to make his Olympic debut at the Paris 2024 Games. Rowing in the men's eight, the crew finished sixth.
