Anna's Story
1966 -
Kayaker Anna Wood teamed with Katrin Borchert to win a bronze medal in the women’s K2 500m in 1996. Born in the Netherlands, Wood and German-born Borchert emerged as an exciting tandem for Australia in the late ‘90s. Following Atlanta, Wood and Borchert proved to be the best women’s pair on the international circuit, winning world titles at both 500m and 1000m. However, their winning streak at major events ended in Sydney 2000, where they placed sixth in the K2 500m. Wood’s late husband, Steve Wood, won a bronze medal in the men’s K4 in 1992.
