Andrew's Story

1987 –

Andrew Lauterstein, a backstroker turned butterflier, returned from Beijing 2008 with three medals. He won the bronze medal in the 100 metres butterfly, the event in which Michael Phelps equalled Mark Spitz’s record haul, from Munich 1972, of seven gold medals. Lauterstein also won two relay medals in Beijing. He combined with Eamon Sullivan, Brenton Rickard and Hayden Stoeckel to claim the silver medal behind the Phelps-led Americans in the medley relay and with Sullivan, Ashley Callus and Matt Targett for third placing, behind the United States and France, in the 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay.
