Alva's Story
1942 –
Alva Colquhoun joined with Dawn Fraser, Ilsa Konrads and Lorraine Crapp to claim the silver medal behind the Chris von Saltza-led Americans in the 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay at Rome 1960. Sandra Morgan and Ruth Everuss had swum in the heat and were replaced by Konrads and Fraser for the final. The combination that swam in the final had set the world record for the event in Townsville just prior to the Olympics. At the 1958 Cardiff British Empire and Commonwealth Games, Colquhoun won the bronze medal, behind Fraser and Crapp, in the 110 yards freestyle and a gold medal in the 4 x 110 yards relay.
