Allison's Story
1972 -
Allison Tranquilli achieved the exceptional feat of winning Olympic medals eight years apart in women’s basketball. Playing under her maiden name of Cook, the Victorian was a member of the team that won Australia’s first basketball medal, a bronze, in 1996. She was not a member of the Sydney 2000 team that won the silver medal. But in Athens, now known by her married name of Tranquilli, she returned to the Opals’ Olympic roster, providing a spark as a valuable bench player. The team again won a silver medal. Tranquilli also enjoyed a fine professional career, most notably in Europe.
