After attending a ‘come and try’ day for Artistic Swimming at her local pool when she was 11 years old, Alessandra Ho knew this was the sport for her.
At first she had no idea what synchronised swimming was but her mum, a marathon runner, convinced her to give it a go and she didn't look back. She signed up for the West Coast Splash Synchronised Swimming Club in 2011 before moving on to the SupaNova Synchronised Swimming Club in 2015.
It was after watching the London 2012 Olympic Team perform their routines at nationals that Alessandra's Olympic dream was ignited.
She finished school in 2017 before taking up a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Notre Dame - while juggling her career in Artistic Swimming.
In 2019 she also competed at the FINA World Championships in Gwanju, South Korea, where she helped her team qualify for the Olympic Games.
Realising her dream, Alessandra made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, in the Artistic Swimming teams discipline. She competed alongside teammates Carolyn Buckle, Hannah Burkhill, Kiera Gazzard, Kirsten Kinash, Rachel Presser, Emily Rogers and Amie Thompson.
The Aussie squad placed a respectable 9th overall in the tournament, with a technical routine score of 75.6351 and free routine score of 77.3667, earning them a total of 153.0018.
