About Aivi

Aivi Luik started playing football at nine years of age after her younger brother wanted to play the sport. Following two years playing indoor soccer, she joined the Palm Beach Soccer Club.

Aivi played for six years in the American collegiate and professional system, but returned to Australia in 2009 to play with the Brisbane Roar in the W-League. She won the 2010-11 W-League Championship with Brisbane and in 2010 made her debut with the Matildas.

A brief stint in Perth following Aivi's time in Queensland was preceded by a move to Melbourne City, where she played for five years and continued to assert herself as one of the top players in the competition. Whilst with Melbourne City, Aivi enjoyed seasons playing in Europe with Notts County, Kalmar and Levante.

In 2020 Luik left Melbourne City to sign with Spanish giants Seville, where she applied her trade in the lead up to representing the Matlidas at Tokyo 2020.

Aivi, one of Australia's most decorated footballers that's won silverware in Denmark, Norway and Australia, made her Olympic debut at 36 years of age in Tokyo after coming close to playing at Rio 2016.

She helped the Matildas make all of Australia proud in putting together a historic achievement.

Their fourth place finish, which was nearly a podium finish after a 4-3 loss to the USA in the bronze medal game, is the highest ever finish by the Matildas at an Olympic Games.
