Aimee's Story
Aimee Watson made history at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games when she lined up alongside her younger brother Callum as the duo became the first siblings to represent Australia in cross country at the same Olympics. Despite heading to her debut Games with a broken toe she finished the 10km Classic in 63rd before claiming 54th in the 30km Freestyle Mass Start.
Four years later, Watson competed at her second Olympic Games at Pyeongchang 2018. The endurance specialist placed 58th in the Ladies' Sprint Classic qualification, finishing the course in a time of 3:44:87. In her second event, the dual Olympian finished 68th in the 10km Free.
Watson started skiing as a three-year-old having grown up in Cooma on the NSW snowfields. She began competing competitively in cross country skiing when she was 14 and made her first national team in 2003.
She lined up in her fourth senior World Championships in Lahti, Finland in 2017, where she competed in four events. She finished 59th in the Sprint qualification, 44th in the 15km Skiathlon and 55th in the 10km Classic. She then helped the Australian team finish its first ever World Championships relay when she lined up with Jessica Yeaton, Barbara Jezersek and Katerina Paul to claim 15th.
Watson studied veterinary science at the University of Sydney and when she is not away competing works as a vet at Yarrawonga and Cobram Vet Clinics.
