Adam's Story
1976 –
Adam Commens won a bronze medal for Australia in men’s hockey at Sydney 2000. The New South Wales midfielder played more than 100 games for the Kookaburras in his distinguished career. In Sydney, the Kookaburras had three wins and two draws from its five preliminary round games. Its opponent in the semi-final was the Netherlands, the defending champion. No goal was scored in regular play, so the game was decided on penalties, with Australia losing 5-4. The team showed tremendous spirit to rebound for its bronze medal final, beating Pakistan 6-3 for its third consecutive Olympic medal.
