Australia's top male trampoline gymnasts are on their way to China for a World Cup meet.

GYMNASTICS: Australia's top male trampoline gymnasts are on their way to China for a World Cup meet, before going head-to-head for one ticket to the Rio Olympics.

Blake Gaudry, Shaun Swadling, Ty Swadling and Jack Penny left for Shanghai on Tuesday morning for vital preparation ahead of the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne.

While Gaudry secured Australia's lone berth in the individual trampoline event at the Olympics at the test event in Rio last month, the 24-year-old is not assured of being on the Games team.

He will go into this month's national championships as favourite, but both Swadling brothers and Penny would also have designs on making the team.

"This event (in Shanghai) will be great in getting them ready for the championships and that we'll be able to put forward a really strong competitor for Rio," a Gymnastic Australia spokesperson said.

Female trampoline gymnasts Evie Kierath, Claire Arthur, Lauren Sampson and Leanne Van Rensburg also left for the World Cup event, though Australia failed to secure a start in the women's event in Rio.
