The Hockeyroos are one of Australia's most successful sporting teams as three-time consecutive Olympic Champions in Seoul 1988, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 and since then, the squad hasn't finished outside of the top six.
David Culbert spoke with 12-year veteran goalkeeper and Rio 2016 Olympian Rachael Lynch about the unpredictable nature of sport along with how she manages to keep her head in the game ahead of Tokyo 2020. Although her team has secured their ticket to Tokyo, a player's spot on the squad is never guaranteed with Lynch missing out on selection twice in her career.
The Hockeyroos shot-stopper shared her journey from missing out on the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games where she was the youngest in the squad, to London 2012 where she was unable to make the most of her opportunities and missed out on Olympic selection for a second time.
Lynch is now a 200-plus game stalwart for her country and while balancing her role of being a nurse, she is looking towards her second Olympic Games and Olympic gold.
