ATHLETICS: Australian walker Jared Tallent has sent a not-so-subtle reminder to the IOC: I haven't forgotten about my gold medal from the 2012 London Olympics.
The 31-year-old finished second behind Russian convicted drug cheat Sergey Kirdyapkin in the 50km walk in London and still hopes to be awarded the gold that he believes is rightfully his.
"1185 days have past since I raced in London. How many more do I have to wait until I receive my Olympic gold medal?" he tweeted on Monday morning.
Tallent's post comes in light of a report by a World Anti-Doping Agency commission alleging widespread doping and corruption in Russian athletics.
The report called on the International Association of Athletics Federation to suspend the Russian Athletics Federation from all events including the 2016 Olympic Games.
WADA also recommended Russia's disgraced walking head coach Viktor Chegin, who guided Kirdyapkin in London, be given a lifetime ban from the sport.
In an ironic twist, Tallent was visited on Tuesday morning by IAAF drug testers.
"Of all the mornings they decide to show up today at 6am! #No2Doping" he tweeted.
Tallent will speak to media Tuesday morning from Canberra.
